Vertical AI

Vertical AI is an AI product built for one industry or kind of business, shaped around its workflows, data and rules, rather than a general tool for everyone. Its advantage is depth: it knows the job.

What it means

General AI tools are broad and shallow: they can help with almost anything and fit no particular workflow. Vertical AI trades breadth for fit. It knows the steps, the vocabulary, the data formats and the rules of one industry, which is what the people in it actually need.

The risk is a market that's too small, or a workflow that changes. The advantage is that a general tool can't easily copy years of learning about one industry's work.
