AI use
We're an AI-native studio, so we say plainly where AI is used, where it isn't, and what happens to anything you send us. This page describes what's true today, and it changes before anything it describes does.
The short version
- Nothing you send through this site is read by an AI model today. Forms go to a private Google Sheet, and a person reads each one.
- Cut It runs entirely in your browser. No model is involved, and nothing you choose is sent anywhere.
- A person decides everything we publish and everything we ship, and puts their name to it.
- If we add a tool that sends what you type to a model, this page and the privacy policy change first, and the tool says so where you type.
On this site
Forms
- AI
- None.
- What happens
- A Venture Diagnosis request, a partnership inquiry or a Journal signup goes to a Google Sheet in our account. A person reads each one. No model scores, sorts or answers them.
Cut It
- AI
- None.
- What happens
- The game runs in your browser. Our call on each feature, and the reason for it, were written by us in advance, and your choices never leave the page.
Search
- AI
- None.
- What happens
- The search box matches what you type against a list of the site's pages, in your browser.
The Journal by email
- AI
- None.
- What happens
- Each issue is written and sent by us, through Resend. We don't track opens or clicks.
In what we publish
We use AI tools when we write, the way we use them when we build. A person decides what's published, checks each fact against its source, and signs it. Every article names its sources and labels its examples by where they come from: our own ventures, an illustrative case, or client work.
The figures, covers and diagrams on this site are drawn in code from our own models. None of them comes from an image generator.
In the work
- AI goes only where judgement helps. Before a model goes into a product, it has to pass the Remove-the-AI Test: if rules would do the job as well, rules do it.
- Models are tested like any other code. On real data, with an evaluation set, and released in steps through a graduated launch.
- A person owns what ships. We use AI tools to design, write and test, and someone on the team reviews and answers for everything that goes live.
- Your code and data sit in your accounts from the first day, not ours.
